My name is Roland Pierik and welcome to my secondary homepage dedicated to street photography – this is my primary homepage. I live in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Besides my day job as a professor of philosophy of law at Maastricht University, I am also an avid street photographer – time permitting. I seek to capture ordinary street life in a non-ordinary way.
With a camera in my hand, I am primarily interested in human beings and human artifacts: things that were made by human beings.
Wandering around the city, I seek to observe things that might remain oblivious to others. I hope to turn ordinary urban moments into something remarkable, using juxtaposed elements to form a new synthesis that is unusual, even though the juxtaposed elements themselves may be ordinary.
